Jason Hornbuckle is not a happy little boy. For the past  hours he has complained of pain when he swallows, has a headache, and has vomited twice. His mother decides to take the seven-year-old to his pediatrician.
Upon examining Jason, the doctor fi nds that Jason’s pharynx, tonsils, and uvula are swollen and erythematous (red) and his tonsils are studded with white areas of exudate. He is febrile (temperature  degrees centigrade) with tender, bilateral, cervical lymphadenopathy (enlarged lymph nodes) A Complete Blood Count (cbc) performed on a sample of Jason’s blood reveals that he has a leukocytosis (increased number of wbcs) due to a neutrophila (increased number of neutrophils).
Jason is diagnosed as having acute bacterial pharyngitis and treated with phenoxymethyl penicillin for fi ve days. A throat swab taken before starting antibiotics grows beta-hemolytic streptococci (Group A). After three days of treatment, Jason’s temperature has returned to normal and he has made an uneventful recovery.

Questions
. The pediatrician described Jason’s pharynx, uvula, and tonsils as swollen and red. What are the
four cardinal signs of inflammation, and how does each relate to changes in the blood vessels at a
site of inflammation?
. The exudation on Jason’s tonsils consisted primarily of neutrophils, and the cbc that was performed

Anatomy & Physiology is the study of the body as a whole, subdivided into body systems and then further broken down into the sub units of organs, tissues and cells. In this Authentic Assessment, the student will discuss the common diseases associated with the body systems covered in AHLT 125, the resulting diagnostic treatments, treatments, prognosis, and complications of treatments, disease prevention strategies and reflection of topic chosen.
After completion of this project, the student will have the knowledge, skills and behaviors required to complete a research project.
In addition to your textbook and medical dictionaries, use a minimum of two reliable reference sources that can provide worthwhile information for you to use.
Remember to use the information literacy skills you gained in COMM 150 and refined throughout your program of study to help you make judgments on the most appropriate sources to use. Search the internet and find out why athletes might abuse this drug and the physical damages it might cause. Take a stand on the issue of using drugs to maximize performance in sports. 5. Since the invention of the first vaccine in the 1700s, there has been controversy whenever a new vaccine is introduced. Are they safe? Do they work? Search the internet and find credible vs. questionable sites about vaccine usage. Using this information, what are your thoughts about the safety of vaccinations? Were you vaccinated as a child? Will you vaccinate your children?
